Approach

After more than 25 years and the ever increasing march of technology my approach has always remained the same.

I like a challenge and enjoy solving clients problems. With good communication skills all the way from brief to final execution, my aim is to give my clients the shots that bring their projects to life.

As an early adopter of digital technology from the scanning of film and subsequent use of High End digital capture, I have been able to keep ahead of the technology rather than regard it as a barrier to what I really enjoy, taking pictures.

With a fully colour managed workflow I have always been able to ensure the integrity of the files I supply to give my clients the best results.

My workflow involves the shooting of Raw files and subsequent supply of edited low resolution previews, either on disk or increasingly, as an online Web Gallery, hosted on my ftp site. These images are for initial selection and layout, followed by the supply of optimised High Resolution files as required.

This process is not instant, but is designed to ensure maximum quality from capture to print.

The subsequent supply of bespoke optimised Hi-Res files will generally include minor cosmetic retouching as a matter of course, whether as a result of a less than perfect early morning shave, some unwanted graffiti in shot, or perhaps just a bad hair day. I am also happy to quote for any more creative retouching requirements, whether in-house or with a specialist re-toucher.

As an alternative to bespoke file optimisation, I am always happy to supply a folder of un-retouched Hi-Res Jpegs with the same settings as the previews supplied, either on a DVD or a portable Hard Drive as appropriate. However, my preference would always be to supply files of the highest quality for selected images, which is only possible, in my opinion with bespoke file optimisation.

I shoot mainly on location, but am equally at home in a studio, usually with my own lighting unless a more elaborate set up is required. I can even bring the studio to you in order to minimise the subjects time away from their work.

With a relaxed, natural approach I aim to put my subjects at ease whether on location in their own environment or in a studio setting.

Please take a look at my
portfolio, or catch up with what I’ve been shooting lately in the news section. Alternatively, please drop me an email to visit with my book or to send you a quote for any projects you may have in mind.

Copyright

My approach to copyright is simple.

With very few exceptions I retain the copyright in the photographs I create at all times throughout the world.

The images are licensed for clients to use on very fair and generous terms. For agreed time periods and across defined territories, to include various media to meet the clients specific requirements, as agreed at the time of quotation. This may be anything from a single insertion in a magazine, to an all use buyout, worldwide in perpetuity. License to use paperwork will be issued with the invoice as appropriate.

I believe in an honest approach at the outset to ensure that everyone is aware of the expectations we have of each other, both creatively and professionally.

It is my aim to make client experiences smooth and painless and hence foster long term relationships with all my clients to create successful work for years to come.

As a member of the Association of Photographers I am bound by a code of conduct and best practice respected throughout the industry, which is designed to protect us all, clients and photographers.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any queries about the licensing of my images as I will be happy to discuss any issues you may have.
